I wanted this painting to be about joy and have a gentle movement, a positive active mood with the colours possessing a vivacious energy but also soft. It was stimulated by my work with the vastness in micro-worlds where the light, molecules and colour play the vibrant dance of life.

There is always an essence of the sea in my artworks and many viewers feel a gentle freedom from this series of paintings. Uplifting and peaceful like being underwater discovering colourful sea-life and corals or imagining what the tiny life forms in a rockpool look like close up under a microscope.

In this artwork the background Yellow is so alive. It is such a joyful active colour that creates light and happiness! Together with a whisper of pastel pink in the mix to soften the high notes, it was the perfect backdrop for the effervescent dance of the ovoid forms in the foreground.

What I enjoy most about my paintings is they make people smile with a sense of wonderment and feelings of happiness as well as giving their walls finesse and a splash of colour for years to come.
