‘Reef Bloom Flurry’ is an original large abstract painting, created in vibrant aquatic hues. Joyful aquas, spritzy blues, citrusy yellows, and gentle touches of pastel pinks and apricot and white highlights. These colours always bring me such happiness; they feel alive, buoyant, and full of quiet joy.

This piece is inspired by the magical realms we rarely get to see. Think the glowing blooms of coral, the soft eruptions of coral spawning, the tiny molecular worlds in constant motion or a symphony of lights dancing across the water. I’m endlessly fascinated by the places where science and art meet: microscopic structures, energetic little molecules, aquatic forms, and everything that floats between the seen and unseen.

In this painting, white highlights soften the colours beneath, creating a three-dimensional, effervescent space where forms drift in and out of focus, much like observing life under a microscope or peering into a luminous sea garden. The circular forms speak to the patterns and behaviours of light in nature: bokeh-like glows, suspended particles, and the quiet shimmer of beams moving through water. They hint at moments of illumination, scientific, emotional and the glimmer of hope.

‘Reef Bloom Flurry’ sits within my Bio Bloom Series, which explores the sublime beauty of natural patterns, microscopic minutiae, and aquatic life. These themes of the big, the tiny, the sea, the molecules, always inform my work. You can read this painting as an intimate molecular world or as a flourishing underwater garden filled with drifting coral blooms and algae forms. All belong to the same story of life.

Above all, I create these pieces to evoke wonder, warmth and happiness, and to bring a long-lasting sense of glowing colour to a collector’s home.
