The ocean holds entire worlds that most of us never see, but we feel them, instinctively, in its rhythms and beauty. “Tideline Bloom I” invites you into those unseen realms, offering a contemporary abstract expression of sea life, rockpools, and microscopic worlds beneath the surface.

Growing up by the rugged southern coast of Flinders on the Mornington Peninsula, the sea was my playground, my teacher, and my constant source of wonder. This painting is part of my “Aquatic” series, an ongoing exploration of the parallels between art and science and the sea—celebrating the beauty and complexity of the minute, the molecular, and the infinite.

In this piece, circular, organic motifs float across the surface like cellular forms or drifting bioluminescent organisms, while gestural textures and a monochromatic palette echo the basalt rocks, pale sands, and seafoam of Victoria’s wild tidelines. Step close and you’ll find layered details that invite quiet contemplation; step back, and the painting blooms into an immersive field of energy and rhythm—alive with movement, order, and chaos intertwined.
